I am commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that in a letter dated the 8th May, to 237, the Commander-in-Chief in China reports.

"I am going to-day (8th May) to Kowloon with His Excellency the Governor to see the Obelisk recently completed which it is intended to erect on Land Island over the graves of those lost in the S.S. 'Bokhara'. I purpose sending it to the island in one of H.M. Ships":
